It seems likely Fergie would struggle to pass a marketing 101 class.
For the Black Eyed Peas star snatched attention away from the shoes she was meant to be promoting by wearing a bizarre tropical print dress at a Self Magazine party in New York tonight
All eyes were on the unusual black outfit, which sported spectacular sunset scenes at both the neck and hem.

The Where Is The Love star went to great lengths to make people take notice of her orange Fergielicious stilettos.
She even turned to the side at one point and bent up her left leg, as she tried to avert attention away from her outfit.
But thus was another bust attempt on the part of the in-shape 37-year-old.
For this simply highlighted her wonderfully toned legs, with her muscular calf particularly impressive.

She had more luck earlier in the day, where a less distracting ensemble allowed her silver high heels to steal the show at the Fashion Footwear Association of New York Shoe Expo.
However most fashion fans will admit the on-hiatus star's outfits at both events were better than her travel clothing.
She was obviously going for comfort in an all-black outfit when she arrived at JFK Airport this morning.
