After a difficult week off the camera Simon Cowell got back to his day job as a Britain's Got Talent judge.

The X Factor mogul opened the show by saying this year he thinks he will find the biggest ever star.

That act may just be The Loveable Rogues, who wowed the judges at the Cardiff auditions.

The Loveable Rogues took nervously to the stage but gave a confident rendition with one guitar, one ukelele and soft vocals with honest lyrics.

Alesha Dixon said: 'Your personalities are just shining in abundance, I think you're my favourite act so far.'

Simon said: 'It was like listening to a Madness track again. And you look good. You look really good'

They received three thumbs up from and David added that he would buy their single tomorrow if it was available.

Judge Carmen, who filled in for Amanda Holden after she had her baby, told her: 'Britain really does have talent, girl you rocked. You sang such a gangster song.'

Simon said: 'I like it when kids your age choose the song. I like the fact that your guitar was too big for you. And because your posh and you're talking about swag made it even better'.

With all four judges saying 'yes', Thalia was sent through to the next round.

French stunt group Cascade impressed both the judges and the audience with their toned bodies before they even began their act.

As the gang of men kicked, punched and fought their way through a difficult routine that included dancing and stripping of shirts, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon smiled with delight.

David Walliams said: 'That was tres bon', and Simon added 'it was absolutely amazing.'

Amanda was left swooning over one of the contestants, Alexandra, telling him: 'You are like a French Tom Cruise. It was amazing.'

The martial artists sailed through to the next round with all the judges telling them they were incredible to watch.

Medical secretary-turned-impressionist Marea Smithson baffled the judges with her routine after Simon had been certain she would be 'awful'.

He completely changed his opinion after watching her impersonate Ann Widdecombe and Anne Robinson and said: 'You're really really talented Marea.'

Amanda, David, and Alesha all agreed in unison that she was worthy of making it to the next round despite having some confidence issues.

Ballroom and Latin dancers Kai and Natalia shimmied onto stage and having been partners for two years they wanted to show that ballroom dancing was cool.

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Alesha was particularly impressed with the couples slick moves and sensual chemistry.

She said: 'You're fantastic dancers, you really are.

Simon was even more enthusiastic about them and said: 'I've just got a real feeling about you that you're going to make something of your lives,' before sending them into the next round.

Dance group Charisma Crew entered wearing patriotic union flag jackets and the Essex based friends left most the judges speechless.

Alesha said: 'I loved all the music changes, I really enjoyed it.'

But Simon wasn't impressed by the leader of the group and said: 'I feel that you've done this to create a platform for yourself.'

Whilst Alesha, David, and Amanda, all said yes, the X Factor creator said no, but Charisma Crew went through anyway.

Katie Mittell again split the judges and while they all said she had talent, Cowell told her that her image was 'terrible' and she needed to change it.

Simon's mood lifted slightly when he began flirting with a contestant, in the form of sexy senorita Chica Latina.

The hairdresser, 43, from Leamington Spa, originally Columbia, sang for the judges, telling the camera beforehand she was looking to impress Simon.

'I love Simon, I think he’s a power man, I think he needs Chica Latina,' she said.

He told her: 'You’re a little minx aren’t you... You have a very naughty face.'

David then asked if she was single, to which Chica replied: 'I’m not single Simon.'

Simon the said: 'Ah, what a shame, but you’re quite flirtatious aren’t you?'

She quipped: 'I am, I am with you.'

He continued: 'You know how to move don’t you. You know how to use those hips... I suppose that’s part of your charm actually as you are completely Spanish, like an orange.'

The other judges agreed and David said: 'We have found a new diva. We’ve had people who are slightly better singers, just slightly but you were having fun so we were having fun. I mean Simon was even smiling at one point, a little bit of the darkness came out of him for just a second.'

Despite not being a strong singer all the judges said 'yes' and sent her through to the next round.
