This has the potential to be the best celeb feud ever!
Here's why: Drunken lady talk show hosts are NOT to be f*cked with! Like, EVER! They have a built-in audience, an image to uphold, and (thanks to that empty bottle of pinot under their desk) they're not afraid to say exactly what is on their mind!
As a drunken lady talk show host herself, you'd think Chelsea Handler would know better than to poke at the hornets nest that is Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb home. But, Monday Mz. Handler just couldn't help herself.
This all started when the Chelsea Lately host decided not to show up for her appearance on the fourth hour of TODAY because, according to her rep who called in, she was "sick."
Only, she wasn't sick at all. Later, during an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea explained:
"I wasn't drunk or anything… I literally walked into a shower door this morning. I hit my eye and so everything's puffy. I couldn't go with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kota-ba, or whatever her name is."
Jimmy Fallon corrected Handler, telling her it's "Kot-bee." To which she replied:
"That's good to know. I never thought about it. I just thought, why are there two vowels like that so closely together?"
Naturally, Chelsea's disrespect was not ignored by Mz. Kota-ba or Gifford!
Tuesday morning on TODAY Kathie Lee was clearly pissed as she explained:
"She [Handler] had been sick all night, we were told. But we had a feeling something was up."
Hoda chimed in:
"Consonants! Two consonants! Wait — just so we're clear — she wasn't sick and her eye didn't look puffy."
Gifford ended the Handler talk by saying simply: "I think she's got some explaining to do."
OH GAWWD! Please, PLEASE let this just be the beginning!
Think of all word-slurring, insult-slinging joy this could bring to our torn country.
