The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped again Monday, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.628.
The average price has dropped on 68 of the past 69 days and is 6.7 cents less than one week ago and 21.8 cents lower than one month ago, but 6 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
Late last week, West Hollywood gas prices ranged from $3.55 at USA Petroleum on Santa Monica Boulevard to $3.89 at Chevron at the intersection of La Cienega and Santa Monica boulevards, according to Mapquest Gas Prices.
"On Jan. 1, the Los Angeles-Long Beach gas price average was at its low point of $3.65 a gallon, and we should see the current average drop even lower than that in the next couple of days," Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring said in a statement. "We encourage drivers to continue to shop around for the lowest prices. That encourages competition and helps the prices drop faster."
The average price has fallen $1.077 over the past 69 days, including 1 cent on Sunday. It decreased for 48 consecutive days, was unchanged Nov. 27 and resumed dropping the next day.
The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 90-day streak from Sept. 16-Dec. 14, 2008.
