The Universal City / North Hollywood Jaycees is having their annual Operation Santa event. Operation Santa gives children from economically disadvantaged families the chance to receive something from their Christmas list to Santa. The Jaycees work with North Hollywood elementary schools to select deserving kids. The teachers have the kids write a Dear Santa Letter and then send it off to the Jaycees. On Christmas Eve, volunteer Santas delivery the gifts to the children.
Most of the children sponsored by Operation Santa have never received a new toy in their lives. A wish list from last year stated Santa, please don't forget about our family again this year. If you would like to donate a toy, please visit the following Santa drop off stations:
AT One Fitness 11116 Weddington St., Body Image 5259 Lankershim Blvd, Art Institute of North Hollywood 5250 Lankershim Blvd.
If you or anybody you know might be interested in volunteering they are looking for:
1.) People to dress as Santa and deliver toys to local kids on December 24th. Meet up at Los Angeles Valley College Fire Side Room. It will start at 9am and end at 3pm. Lunch will be served for ALL volunteers!
2.) Volunteers to work the Los Angeles Valley College Santa Party in the Fireside Room on December 24th from 9am - 3pm. Lunch will be served to all volunteers.
3.) People to do TOY PICK-UP at all box locations in NoHo on December 15th and again on December 23. Must have a car!
4.) Volunteers to do sponsor and toy sorting on December 22nd in North Hollywood. 4-7 pm.
5.) Volunteers to work at the NoHo Farmer's Market on Dec 22 from 9 am - 2 pm to promote the Chamber of Commerce and Operation Santa.
6.) Volunteers to decorate Los Angeles Valley College fire-side room on December 23rd. Time to be determined.
