What Questions Do Young Voters Want To 'Ask Obama'?

The president will answer your questions during 'Ask Obama: An MTV Interview with the President,' airing live this Friday on all of MTV's screens.

On Friday (October 26), young voters across the country will get the chance to ask President Obama the tough questions on "Ask Obama Live: An MTV Interview with the President," a 30-minute sit down interview hosted by MTV News' Sway Calloway where the Commander in Chief will directly address your concerns.

The special airs live at 5 p.m. ET (tape delayed PT) across all of MTV's screens, and will also feature MTV News correspondent Andrew Jenks, who will be on the ground at a Washington, D.C., college with a group of young voters. You can submit your questions for the president right now, by hitting up the MTV Facebook page.

(MTV has also invited Obama's opponent, Mitt Romney, to participate in a similar live special, and hopes to conduct an interview with him in advance of Election Day on November 6.)

For months now, as part of our ongoing "Power of 12" campaign, MTV has been traveling to college campuses and conventions throughout the country, speaking with young voters about the issues that are foremost on their mind. And while we can't predict what kinds of questions Barack Obama will be fielding during the special, based on the sheer amount of voices we've already heard from on our cross-country travels, well, we've got a pretty good idea of what he can expect.

There have been plenty of issues brought up along the way — health care, immigration reform, gun control, clean energy, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, marijuana legalization — but, somewhat understandably, most young voters seem concerned with the skyrocketing costs of college ... and how they'll manage to deal with crippling student loans if they're unable to find a job once they graduate.

"Any student, any parent is going to tell you getting into college is only half the battle," one student told us. "Paying for college is really what it's coming to now."

"We're getting this excellent education," another asked, "but are we ever going to be able to get past the loans that we have to pay off?"

Most expressed frustration over the slow growth of the economy and wondered how either candidate would be able to kickstart things to help them land a good-paying job once college is finished.

"It's scary for a lot of people right now, not getting a job," a student told us. "I want to be able to graduate and go right into a career. Who's going to create the jobs so when we graduate from college, we can actually go and work?"

"We're in college, we need help!" another added. "We have big bills to pay when we leave here, and we want to know who's going to be there for us when we get out of this place."
